the mysterious 786

I am again homeJ thanks to placement week of seniors that we got another 3 days to cherish at home. It is really cold here with temperature ranging between 8.2 °C to 3.6°C and I was enjoying cozy blanket after breakfast when mom told me to get ready as we had to go at naani’s place. Somehow I managed to get myself out of my beloved blanket and got ready.

When we reached there , my nana ji was sitting beside my nani who was resting on bed. After some casual conversation, don’t know which topic started, he asked me what is 786 number referred to? I said it is holy number of muslims and they consider it as a good luck charm. He said let me show you what it is. He took out a pile of papers and showed me something. On the first page I saw the table given below and read that the 786 no. refers to 'Bismillah Hirahmaan Niraaheem' the god of muslim.

I realized that even the word alphabet has been derived from concatenation of ‘alif ', 'ba’ , ‘ta’, ‘tha’.English and Arabic originated in different parts of the world but still have similiarites. Not only these two but Sanskrit ,greek, latin are also inter related.
In Arabic there are two methods for arranging letters, one of them is alphabetic method and other is abjad method. They have used ABJAD method to calculate 786.It has been borrowed by muslim theological adventurers. Thomas Patrick Hughes, in his Dictionary of Islaam, explains ABJAD as "The name of an arithmetical arrangement of the alphabets; the letters of which have different powers from one to one thousand. It is in order of the alphabets as used by the Jews as far as 400 AD, then six remaining letters being added by Arabians."ABJAD is a writing style which belongs to semitic family of scriptsand uses only consonants while vowels are supplied by reader.
As I read further pages it was proved that the numerical value of 'Bismillah Hirahmaan Niraaheem' is more than 786 and comes out to be close to 787 on the basis of some error on account of alphabets taken in the respective name which should not have been considered.Infact it has been surprising to find out that '786' is an aggregation of the numbers of Hindu 'Lord Hari Krishna'. H(a)iri Kr(i)shna

h-5, r-200, r-10, k-20, r-200, sh-300, n-50, a-1 =Aggregate of 786

Calling a person by a nick name has been considered as an offence in Muslim religion, now if they refer to 786 as the almighty himself then it is a kind of an offense. But many people are not aware of what this value stands for and should it be used or not, they have been using it as has been done by their ancestors and will continue the tradition.

All this may be useless for some of you but I wrote it because I didn’t know what 786 stands for, where it came from and thought to share what I came to know J

  1. 'Bismillah Hirahmaan Niraaheem' means "in the name of Allah, the merciful, the compassionate" and are the first words of Quran. Thats why u would hear people say 'Bismillah' before they start something.
